Passed ITA Foundation (Levels 1 & 2) exam

The course will run 4 October 2010 for 6 wweks and a total of 192 instructional hours.

Curriculum outline:

Plant ID

Identify species suitable for landscape and production situations as well as tropical, floral and indoor landscapes. 6 hours lecture, 18 hours practical

Pest management

Explain the management of insect, weed, disease, mollusc and vertebrate pests in landscapes. 12 hours lecture, 15 hours practical

Soil management

Assess landscape sites with respect to soils 12 hours lecture, 12 hours practical

Pruning

Basic pruning of trees and shrubs 12 hours lecture, 15 hours practical

Irrigation and Drainage

Maintenance of irrigation systems 12 hours lecture, 15 hours practical

Preparation of estimates

Preparation of estimates for basic landscape installation projects 9 hours lecture, 9 hours practical

Turfgrass maintenance

Demonstrate maintenance procedures for a range of turfgrass situations 12 hours lecture, 15 hours practical

Application process:

Completed application form, $50 non-refundable application fee and the remainder payable on February 1st 2010
